City meets with Bremen mayor
News in short
The City of Windhoek is expected to welcome Bremen mayor, Dr Andreas Bovenschulte, for an official visit from 22 to 25 September.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the municipality said the visit marks a significant milestone as it will feature the signing of a sister cities agreement between Windhoek and Bremen on Tuesday, 24 September.
During his stay, Bovenschulte and his delegation are expected to explore several important sites and projects in Windhoek.
They will also pay a visit to the Katutura Buy Back Centre, a key initiative funded by the European Union aimed at improving solid waste management in the city.
Additionally, the delegation will tour the Gammams Water Care Works wastewater treatment plant and the Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant, which are both vital components of Windhoek's infrastructure.
"The relationship between Windhoek and Bremen is entrenched in a long-standing historical connection that dates back to Namibia's struggle for independence, formalised by the signing of a charter agreement in 2000," the statement read.
