#JustIn: Madisia, Mulundu sentences expected mid-June
Siblings Azaan Madisia and Steven Mulundu, who were acquitted yesterday of the murder of 21-year-old Shanon Wasserfall in April 2020, are expected to be sentenced on 13 June in connection with the charges they were found guilty of yesterday.
The court found both Madisia and Mulundu guilty of defeating or obstructing the course of justice in connection with their attempt to hide Wasserfall’s death.
Madisia was also found guilty of two counts of fraud.
Mulundu's legal representative, Tanya Klaazen, yesterday suggested a three-year prison sentence with one year suspended.
Madisia's legal representative, Albert Titus, proposed a three-year prison sentence for the charge of obstruction of justice and one year for each of the two charges of fraud on her behalf.
Neither Madisia nor Mulundu testified to mitigate their sentences.
However, heart-wrenching testimony delivered by Wasserfall's father, Tega Matheus, was followed by an emotional letter written by Madisia, which was addressed to Wasserfall's son and family.
