MTC backs Lüderitz Crayfish Festival

Elizabeth Kheibes
MTC has announced a N$115 000 donation towards the 2024 Lüderitz Crayfish Festival, slated for 29 April to 5 May at the Lüderitz Waterfront.

The sponsorship marks the eighth time MTC has partnered with the festival.

MTC highlighted that it annually commits N$875 000 in sponsorships to various trade shows across the country, allowing it to "continue impacting social and economic development initiatives positively."

In a statement, MTC said: “Positioning the town of Lüderitz as a key contributor to the economic transformation of the region, the festival is a flagship business forum by the Lüderitz town council that promotes and facilitates local business development initiatives and a perfect opportunity for macro and micro enterprises to market and sell their offerings and exchange innovative business ideas.”

Part of the journey

MTC's corporate affairs manager John Ekongo described the festival as "arguably one of the fastest growing in the country."

He added: "We recognise the growth attained by the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival over the years, and we are honoured to be part of the journey that unlocks settings that drive business and entrepreneurship for greater socioeconomic welfare."

He thanked the festival's organising committee for allowing MTC to "sponsor and be part of the event once again.

He commended the leadership of the town council for encouraging innovative approaches to keeping the festival relevant.

"We have witnessed the transformative growth of the festival, and we expect the organisers to perpetually embrace innovation to keep attracting Namibians to the coastal town," Ekongo added.
