Nasria explores human-wildlife conflict insurance

News in short
Ellanie Smit
The Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association (Nasria) is expanding its special risk insurance services and exploring human-wildlife conflict insurance through its agriculture insurance scheme.

The insurance will be a specialised product based on sovereign risk transfer, and is aimed at transferring human-wildlife conflict risks from government and promoting co-existence between humans and animals through adequate financial off-set of the costs attributed to the conflict.

The association therefore invites interested and experienced actuarial consultants, experts or firms to apply for the development and design of a human-wildlife conflict insurance product.
