NamPower eyes Namibia’s largest solar farm

NamPower will sign an engineering, procurement and construction contract for a planned 100 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project today, the power utility announced in a statement.
According to NamPower, the largest PV plant in Namibia will be developed 33 kilometres northwest of Rosh Pinah.
“The plant will not only contribute positively to the Namibian economy, but will also aid in addressing and supporting the renewable energy commitments prescribed in the renewable energy policy, national energy policy and national integrated resource plan for the electricity supply industry in Namibia. Most importantly, the PV plant will play a pivotal role in transitioning towards a low carbon and environmentally sustainable energy system,” NamPower said.
