WIS to host International Day
News in short
Windhoek International School (WIS) will host its flagship community event, International Day, tomorrow afternoon on school premises.
International Day is a renowned event on Windhoek’s annual calendar, earmarked since 1990 as a celebration of diversity through food and culture. Each grade in the school represents a country and sets up a stand selling food items and games related to that country.
“International Day is an opportunity for WIS families and the local community to connect and learn more about other countries, which are very often also represented among our student body. At WIS, we value the creation of a sense of belonging for every learner. In celebrating International Day, we foster better understanding, respect and pride for diverse cultures,” educational director Ethan van Drunen said.
The event, which kicks off at 14:30, will feature a parade, live music and dance performances.
