SHORTS: Okongo community library finally opens

The Okongo community library has officially opened its doors, aiming to nurture a love of reading and provide valuable resources to the local population. The library welcomes residents of Okongo, neighboring communities, and visitors to the area, offering a variety of free services. Equipped with internet access, books, and computers, the facility is designed to cater to a wide range of needs. Okongo constituency councilor Lebius Shipindo highlighted that individuals wishing to borrow books must present a national identity card, while learners can use their birth certificates for identification. “Information is the power to change the community mindset,” Shipindo said, emphasizing the importance of the library in fostering growth and learning. Shipindo urged parents to encourage their children to utilize the library's services, steering them away from bars and shebeens. He encouraged young people to invest their time in activities that will improve their future. The library also welcomes learners aiming to improve their grades through the Namibian College of Open Learning (Namcol) or other accredited institutions, providing them with a conducive space for study and self-improvement.
