Pep Stores and Omulunga Radio donated school uniforms to Ondundu Primary School and Omundunda Junior Primary School in the Oshikoto Region last week.

The uniforms are valued at N$20 000 and include school shoes, socks, T-shirts, trousers and skirts.

The donations also consisted of sanitary pads.

During the handover in Ongwediva, Omulunga station manager Simon Mundandala said investments in Namibian children, their education and their welfare benefit the entire nation.

“We need to encourage learners at all levels by making opportunities available for all. Circumstances sometimes affect academic performance and consideration of this factor could prove vital,” Mundandala said.

Urgent actions

He said Omulunga plays a pivotal role in giving back to schools in northern Namibia.

Last year, Omulunga handed over school uniforms to Onaushe Combined School in the Oshana Region.

This action resulted from an assessment of the situation in the region.

“The detrimental situation of learners is disheartening and indeed one of the pressing challenges in communities. It is evident that education is the promise to achieving and sustaining our economic development,” he said.

Mundandala emphasised the importance of motivation and supporting future generations to drive Namibia’s economic growth and bring about prosperity.

Pep Stores manager for the Ohangwena Region, Dishena Johannes, echoed these sentiments and said the aim of the donations is to ensure that learners gain a sense of pride and belonging.

“Against this background, I urge institutions and education planners to also consider better inclusivity for all learners,” Johannes said, adding that their customers made it possible for them to assist Namibian children.

He urged other stakeholders to join their efforts and to continue supporting government's education goals.
