National library, education ministry collaborate on workshop

News in short
Mariud Ngula
In a concerted effort to combat plagiarism, uphold intellectual property rights and ensure the proper layout and editing of publications, the National Library of Namibia and the ministry of education, arts and culture hosted a workshop yesterday at the NamPower Convention Centre.

Chief librarian Hedwich Meyer emphasised the importance of implementing measures to guarantee that publications not only adhere to the requisite standards, but that also cater to long-term storage, maintenance, preservation, bibliographic control and public access.

Addressing the workshop, senior librarian Victoria Isaacks presented their proposed publishing standards and encouraged publishers and writers to collaborate in establishing a writers' forum.
