NamWater on Monday donated stationery supplies worth N$381 660 to 11 schools in the Hardap Region.

NamWater said the initiative forms part of its comprehensive corporate social investment (CSI) programme, which aims to address critical educational needs and promote sustainable socio-economic development.

NamWater CEO Abraham Nehemia, represented by chief strategy and corporate affairs officer Kadiva Hamutumwa, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uplifting Namibian communities through education. “Our CSI programme aligns with Namibia’s national development goals, focusing on key areas such as education, health, and infrastructure. By supporting learners with the necessary tools for academic success, we are investing in the socio-economic well-being of our communities," he said.

The initiative will benefit 11 schools by providing textbooks and stationery, enhancing the learning environment and ensuring that students have the essential tools for academic success.

Nehemia also said the initiative will assist with infrastructure and ICT development, recognising that a modern, well-equipped school is crucial for delivering quality education and offering overall psychosocial support, including counselling services and school uniforms.

He explained that NamWater’s investment in this specific region is in response to the 2021 multidimensional poverty index, which identified significant challenges related to educational resources.

Hardap governor Salomon April emphasised the collective responsibility of uplifting educational standards. “We must continue to build a future where no learner is left behind. I hope today’s event inspires more private entities to join this crucial effort,” he said.

The 11 schools that received donations: Tsumis Farm Primary School, Anna Masdrop Primary School, Samuel Veldskoen Primary School, Mukorob Primary School, Klein Aub Primary School, Groendraai Primary School, WJD Cloete Primary School, JW Mouton Primary School, Eduard Frederick Primary School, Piet Diergaardt Primary School and Nabaseb Primary School.
