The Namibian College of Open Learning (Namcol) welcomed its new board yesterday.

The members, who will serve for three years, are: Evelyn Namoya, David Augustus, Rachel Kalipi and student representatives Evelina Nsinano and John Kauhanda. Other members are Dr Hertha Pomuti and Tonata Uwanga, who were reappointed, as well as ex officio Dr Heroldt Murangi and Sanet Steenkamp.

Education minister Anna Nghipondoka said corporate governance ensures that the college operates ethically, transparently and in full compliance with Namibia's laws.

"Upholding the principles of corporate governance safeguards the trust our stakeholders place in us and paves the way for sustainable growth.”

She added that the board members, hand-picked by the finance ministry, have the "right blend of personalities and qualifications to steer Namcol towards success".
