Blush Foundation aims to eradicate period poverty
The Blush Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to empowering young Namibians, is getting ready to host its third annual fundraiser brunch at Swakopmund.
The upcoming event is set to raise funds and awareness for the Sanitary Towel Project, which aims to eradicate period poverty in Namibia.
The foundation was founded in 2022 by a group of passionate individuals from Swakopmund, including Charlene Hartung.
“We believe that no girl should miss out on her education due to the lack of access to menstrual products. Through the sanitary project, we are working tirelessly to ensure that every girl has the necessary resources to manage her menstrual health and stay in school,” Hartung said.
Through diligent efforts and partnerships with organisations such as Girl Up Namibia and The Lotus Foundation, The Blush Foundation Trust has so far conducted over 65 sanitary towel handouts, distributing approximately 45 000 sanitary towels to various towns and communities across Namibia.
Hartung emphasised the crucial role of these partnerships and the support of the business community in driving the foundation's impactful initiatives. “Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of young girls across Namibia, providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive.”
