#JustIn Private sector credit uptake slows

Phillepus Uusiku
The annual growth in private sector credit extension (PSCE) slowed to 1.6%, year-on-year in September 2023, relative to the 2.3% at the end of August 2023, according to the central bank. The sluggish growth in PSCE mainly emanated from a lower demand coupled with net repayments of credit by businesses, specifically corporates in the services, wholesale and retail trade, commercial real estate, mining, manufacturing and fishing sectors.
