JUST IN: Kganyago adamant SARB will curb inflation

Phillepus Uusiku
South African Reserve Bank (SARB) governor Lesetja Kganyago said the central bank won’t hesitate to do what’s needed to preserve price stability, Fin24 reported.

Inflation in Namibia and South Africa stood at 5.4% in September, according to the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) and Stats SA.

SARB held interest rates at 8.25% in September while warning the outlook for inflation remains clouded by uncertainty. Kganyago has repeatedly cautioned against prematurely declaring victory in the fight to bring price pressures under control.

The SARB's sixth and last monetary policy announcement for the year is expected to take place on 23 November. The last monetary policy announcement for the year by the Bank of Namibia (BoN) is expected to take place on 6 December. The repo rate in Namibia currently stands at 7.75%.
