Over 60 000 more households to benefit from drought relief

In a briefing yesterday, Cabinet announced its support of recommendations made during a national drought platform, held on 25 and 26 September, including a regional quarterly funding allocation of N$16.8 million for the national disaster fund.
"Cabinet supported for implementation the recommended actions emanating from the national drought platform on issues of governance, beneficiaries, transport and logistics, funding, warehousing, urban hunger, water provision and malnutrition," it said.
Cabinet further supported the enrolment of an additional 64 525 households to the drought relief beneficiaries, with a financial implication of N$256 million for the 2025/2026 financial year," information minister Emma Theofelus said.
