Malaysia pledge drought relief
Malaysia will contribute over N$700 000 towards Namibia's drought relief efforts.
Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia in Namibia, Mohamad Rameez Yahaya made the announcement during the 61st Malaysia Day Celebration this week.
This year’s celebration took place under the theme Jiwa Merdeka, meaning 'Spirit of Independence.'
“I also wish to inform you that we are always with Namibia, and when they approach us in the middle of this year to assist them with the serious drought issues, we will provide N$710 000 to assist in this endeavour,” the acting high commissioner said.
Deputy minister of international relations and cooperation, Jennely Matundu, a guest at the celebrations, praised the Malaysian government for its prompt response to Namibia’s drought relief plan.
