Teen allegedly kills man over cigarette
A teenager allegedly stabbed and killed a man twice his age on Friday in Khorixas.
According to the Namibian Police, the 36-year-old deceased ‘bummed’ a cigarette from the 18-year-old suspect’s friend at a local bar, causing the younger man to stab him in his chest before fleeing the scene. The man was rushed to Khorixas District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The suspect has been arrested.
In an unrelated incident, another teenager, aged 17, allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old man at a bar in Groot-Aub on Sunday.
According to the police, the two got into an argument about money, which led to the suspect stabbing the older man with a knife. The suspect has been apprehended.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at Windhoek Central Hospital on Saturday after being seriously injured in a stabbing on Friday. The suspect is still at large and the victim’s next of kin have been informed, police said.
More fatal assaults
In Windhoek’s Goreangab, Bigshow Gawaseb died on Friday after a male suspect stabbed him in his neck and chest with a broken bottle during a fight. Paramedics declared Gawaseb dead at the scene.
The suspect was arrested and is currently receiving treatment under police guard after sustaining serious injuries to his back during the altercation.
In Swakopmund’s Mondesa, a 23-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after he was assaulted by three suspects. Police said the suspects charged after the victim and inflicted serious injuries to his chest with an unknown object. The suspects have been apprehended and the victim’s next of kin have been informed.
