Suspected robbers die in stolen vehicle
Two suspected robbers died after the stolen vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Okapya near Ondangwa during the early hours of Saturday morning.
One of the suspects died on the spot.
Police spokesperson in the Oshana Region, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, said the suspect was found lying next to the vehicle with a head injury while his co-accused was found in the back seat of the car and was rushed to Onandjokwe State Hospital in critical condition.
A third suspect was also admitted to hospital.
The second suspect succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at around 12:00, while the third escaped and is currently on the run, he said.
According to Aiyambo, the suspects forcefully took the vehicle from its owner at knife-point.
It is alleged that on Friday evening at a service station in Ongwediva, three unknown men asked the driver to drop them off at Omatando, Ongwediva.
“When the driver reached Choppies Mall in Ongwediva, the men turned against him. One man took a knife and one grabbed the driver and kicked him out of the car, then they drove off with the silver Toyota Corolla,” the spokesperson said.
Police investigations continue.
