Frieda Molotho
Police have arrested two suspects, aged 38 and 33, following the theft of items valued at over N$164 000 from a vehicle at Brandberg Rest Camp in Uis, which occurred around 02:00 on Wednesday morning. All the stolen items have since been recovered.

The complainant, a 25-year-old tourist from Germany, reported the theft. One suspect remains at large.

According to the police report, three suspects allegedly smashed the vehicle's passenger window before fleeing with the valuables.

Shortly after the incident, a police officer, who was at home at the time, was awakened by the vehicle’s alarm.

He observed three men running past his house and fired a warning shot, but the suspects continued to flee.

Additional police officers were alerted and tracked the suspects throughout the night, successfully arresting two of them.

The stolen items included two Canon cameras, six camera lenses, an Apple MacBook Pro 2018, two backpacks, a camera bag, two passports, two power banks, two power adapters, a knee brace, two vaccination passes, a card game, and an international driving licence.

Police continue to investigate and trace the third suspect.
