Police nab three notorious robbers
The Namibian Police confirmed the arrest of three habitual robbers last Thursday night, just hours after they allegedly forcefully entered a resident's house in Omatando, Oshana Region. The robbers reportedly attacked the victim with a pistol, demanded money, and, when the victim said he had no cash, stole his clothes and fled the scene.
Aktofel Likius (31), known as 'Sixa' and wanted on murder charges in the Khomas and Erongo regions, Petrus Shikongo (24), known as Shilumbu, wanted on charges of robbery, and Wilhelm George (29), known as 'Kakuva', sought in the Ohangwena Region for attempted murder, robbery and escaping lawful custody, fled in a silver Toyota Corolla.
The trio allegedly abandoned the vehicle near the Menduletu complex but were pursued and apprehended at the Oshivelo checkpoint in a silver Volkswagen Tiguan, which they were believed to be using to reach Otjiwarongo. They were found in possession of several cell phones and a motor gate remote control commonly used by criminals to jam car locks.
The three also face charges of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances and malicious damage to property in both Ondangwa and Oshakati. Likius is also allegedly connected to a case involving the robbery and murder of a security guard at Katutura Central Shops (Groot Winkels) on 11 September 2023, where he, along with another robber, are accused of attacking a security guard, holding him at gunpoint, robbed him of his cell phone, and then shooting him.
