POLICE ARREST SOLDIERS

Three Namibian Defence Force (NDF) members were arrested at the Oshivelo checkpoint on Sunday afternoon after they were allegedly found in possession of illegal 279 packets of whiskey and 1 000 boxes of cigarettes valued at a total of N$47 900.

Oshikoto police regional commander Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku confirmed that the three soldiers, aged 45, 36 and 54, respectively, appeared in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The first two suspects were granted bail of N$20 000 and N$15 000, respectively. The third suspect was released and fined N$4 000.
