A 17-year-old boy died by suicide in Omaruru's Hakahana location.

The teen's body was found hanging by a rope from a pole outside his home on Sunday morning. According to the police, the incident occurred after he was asked by his mother to do chores, which included washing dishes and preparing food, while she had also urged him to stay inside as it was already late.

The deceased allegedly got angry about his mother's request, and she ended up doing the cooking herself. When she finished cooking, he refused to eat and stormed out of the house.

His body was discovered the next morning when his mother went to fetch water outside.

No suicide note was found. Police investigations continue.

In a separate incident, a 44-year-old suspected foreign national died by suicide when he hanged himself with a rope in a shack he was living in with his girlfriend.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning in Henties Bay.

Head of the community policing sub-division in the Erongo Region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, confirmed the incident.

He said the deceased, after returning home, was left in the kitchen by his girlfriend when she went to bed. Later on, she realised that he was not in bed yet, went to check up on him and discovered his body hanging from the roof in the kitchen.

A state nurse declared him dead at the scene before the body was transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital. The next of kin have not been informed yet, and investigations continue.
