News in short

Police in the Oshana Region have launched a manhunt to find a gang of suspects after an attempted robbery at Metro in Ondangwa on Monday.

According to the police, one of the male suspects was disguised as a woman during the incident. Despite the cover up, the suspect did not succeed with the break-in.

Oshana police regional commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, confirmed the incident, adding that they will stop at nothing to bring the criminals to justice.

The suspects did not succeed in getting money, but fired a shot before getting away in a silver Toyota with a fake registration number, he said. CCTV footage obtained by the police shows the man wearing a traditional Owambo dress and donning a braided wig.

“One thing is for sure, though: We will hunt them down and we will find them,” Sakaria said.
