Man in critical condition after knife attack

Walk after wedding turns deadly
According to the Namibian Police, the suspects found Sikongo home alone and attacked him without any clear motive before fleeing the scene.

A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after he was attacked by two suspects on Saturday.

Muhep Kleopas Sikongo was admitted to Nankudu District Hospital after the attack at his homestead in the Kavango West Region. He was reportedly stabbed in his neck with an okapi knife.

According to the Namibian Police, the suspects found Sikongo home alone and attacked him without any clear motive before fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made yet, though one of the suspects has been identified.

Meanwhile, at Okakwiyu village in Oshikoto, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot after assaulting a 67-year-old man - reportedly for escorting his girlfriend - on Friday.

According to a police report, the suspect was attacked by two friends after they found him escorting two girls from a wedding. The suspect allegedly drew a pistol and shot the victim in the chest. The victim was rushed to Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect also sustained serious head injuries and was transferred to the same hospital.

He has not been arrested yet as he remains in hospital for treatment, but the firearm was confiscated.

Fatal stabbings

A 37-year-old man, identified as Piet Guxab, was allegedly stabbed in the chest by an unknown suspect in Outjo on Friday and died on the spot. The victim was reportedly found with a 47-year-old woman, who was also assaulted with a stone to her head. Police investigations continue.

In an unrelated incident at the Eengonyo location in the Omusati Region, 25-year-old Saratial Gideon Itango was killed by a 26-year-old man at a local shebeen on Saturday.

According to a police report, Itango was involved in an altercation with the suspect, which later turned deadly after he was stabbed in the back with an unknown object. The suspect has been apprehended.
