Man arrested for stealing fuel worth N$22 000

A 56-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly stealing fuel from a fuel tanker valued at N$22 070 at Tcove village in the Kavango West Region’s Ncamagoro constituency.
Namibian Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shiwambi confirmed the arrest.
According to her, the suspect, the driver of a fuel tanker truck, was arrested after he stole the fuel and was caught selling it to other motorists.
"Three vehicles [loaded with containers of fuel] were abandoned at the scene after the drivers fled the scene when the police arrived, leaving their vehicles behind. The vehicles were impounded. At least a thousand litres of diesel was stolen from the tanker. The fuel was recovered," she said.
Police investigations continue.
