Man accused of raping sister-in-law
A man has been accused of allegedly raping his sister-in-law in a car in Mariental over the weekend.
"It is alleged that the known suspect grabbed the 32-year-old Namibian female, who is his sister-in-law, dragged her into a vehicle, a bakkie, which was parked in the yard, removed her trousers and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent," the Namibian Police reported in its weekly crime round-up.
The police said to date no arrest has been made, but the investigation continues.
Police also had their hands full with drug busts.
In Kalkrand, a 52-year-old man was reportedly arrested after he was found with 10 parcels of skunk cannabis wrapped in brown tape, along with two half-moon blocks of crack cocaine, valued at N$40 000.
In the Saamstaan settlement of Okahandja, police reported the arrest of a 31-year-old man found in possession of a parcel of drugs that included 72 bags of skunk cannabis, loose cannabis and 55 bags of cannabis, weighing a total of 127 grams and valued at approximately N$34 444.
Theft at lodge
Over the weekend, Immanuel Lodge reported a break-in with goods stolen valued at more than N$183 000.
"At Immanuel Lodge, it is alleged that the suspects jumped the fence and gained access inside the lodge, broke open the small back windows of two rooms, and took items to a value of N$183 992.00. No recoveries and arrests were made, and the police investigation continues."
The police also reported that an 80-year-old Usakos pensioner died by suicide over the weekend. The man, Marthinus Kruger, did not leave behind a suicide note.
