Four suspects - including two Namibians - were arrested in Pretoria after allegedly being found in possession of diamonds worth N$3.7 million.

According to the Tswane Metro Police Department, members of their K9 unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation with other law enforcement agencies on Saturday and followed up on information that diamonds were going to be delivered at a mall in Mayville, Pretoria.

“The team rushed to the said location and tactically waited for the suspects to arrive. A white Honda vehicle arrived with four suspects,” the department said.

The four suspects were immediately apprehended and they were found in possession of 36 diamonds. The diamonds have an estimated street value of N$3.7 million.

The department said all four suspects - three men and one woman aged between 49 and 62 - were arrested for dealing in illegal diamonds and money laundering, and will appear in court soon.
