News in short
Claudia Reiter
Four men - aged 25, 26, 29 and 46 - were arrested in the Du Plessis area of the Otjinene district on Friday after they allegedly entered a farm and slaughtered two horses without the owner's consent.

The horses were valued at N$20 000. “The following items were recovered: Two heads, two hides, eight hooves, lungs, livers, entrails and kidneys of the two horses, which were returned to the complainant,” the police said.

One of the suspects is employed by the complainant.

In other news, a 45-year-old suspect was arrested near the Lubuta-Sachona gravel road in the Zambezi Region during an intelligence-led covert operation. “Six elephant tusks, dismantled into 12 pieces, were found in his possession.” The value of the tusks has yet to be determined. The suspect is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court this week.
