Five men linked to an armed robbery at the Big Boss Casino Bar in Mondesa, Swakopmund, last weekend remain behind bars after being denied bail. Two suspects remain on the run.

The five suspects, Jeremiah Vataleni Shimwoomwengo (34), Korbin Naunyango (40), Hans Natangwe Uuyage (29), Petrus Kanisuis (28), and Sam Tobias Kondjeni (31), appeared in court on Wednesday, facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and malicious damage to property.

The incident took place at around 21:30 on Saturday in the Tulinawa location. According to police, seven armed suspects stormed the casino with guns, knives and pangas. They allegedly forced patrons to lie on the floor, stole cash from the register, broke open three gambling machines and took a money box containing roughly N$8 000. Ten cellphones and keys to a betting machine were also taken. The estimated total loss, including damages, stands at N$168 300.

The State opposed bail due to the severity of the charges, highlighting that two of the accused are already facing murder charges in Walvis Bay. Authorities also expressed concern that the group could disrupt the investigation, with two suspects still on the run.

The case has been postponed to 25 June to allow the accused to apply for legal aid.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects is urged to contact Detective Senior Inspector Johny Geiseb at 081 262 9842 or Detective Inspector Cletius Kabuku at 081 391 0671.
