Pensioner drowns in bathtub
Last weekend saw two unidentified bodies found in Windhoek.
In the early hours of Friday, 7 July, the lifeless body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was found in a pool of blood in Windhoek’s Okuryangava.
Preliminary investigations suggest the victim was stabbed, as he was found with an injury to his right leg.
Police have yet to find and notify the victim’s next of kin. Investigations continue.
In an unrelated incident, the body of an unidentified man was found next to the B-1 road in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial Area.
The victim is believed to have been attacked and then succumbed to his injuries.
The body has been transported to the mortuary for a post-mortem, while efforts to identify the deceased and those responsible for his death are ongoing.

In Windhoek’s Hochland Park, a 68-year-old woman drowned in her bathtub.
According to police, the woman’s husband left home in the morning, leaving her behind. Upon his return in the afternoon, he found the doors locked and was unable to enter.
After retrieving a key from his workplace and gaining access to the house, he discovered his wife's lifeless body in the bathtub. The man immediately contacted emergency services, but paramedics were unable to revive her.
No foul play is suspected, but police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, on Friday evening, a car accident took place on the C11 road, approximately 50 kilometres outside Karasburg.
Gert Cloete Burger (71) was driving a white double cab Toyota Land Cruiser when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. Burger and his wife – the only passenger - sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to Karasburg State Hospital.
According to a police report, Burger succumbed to his injuries while preparations were underway to airlift him to Windhoek for further treatment.
His remains have been transported to the Keetmanshoop state mortuary for an autopsy. Investigations continue.
