A 36-year-old man was arrested on Saturday at a taxi rank in Ondangwa for allegedly being in possession of smuggled fuel.

Oshana police crime investigation coordinator Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila said: "It is alleged that the suspect was found in possession of and selling fuel without a permit in a white Opel Corsa."

The police confiscated three 25-litre containers of fuel, one 25-litre container filled to the halfway mark, and two empty 25-litre containers, as well as four empty five-litre containers. They also confiscated N$680 of cash found in possession of the suspect.

The suspect was arrested and formally charged and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court this week.
