Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 36
SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY
Dear loyal readers, I trust that you’re blessed and highly favoured.
During the months of February and March 2025, I chose to dedicate more time under parts 29-35 on sin confession, repentance and sharing the good news of the gospel.
I praise my Heavenly Father and my Lord because this is a reflection of His power and grace to share His Word in this newspaper.
My loyal readers, thank you for your continued support and appreciation.
I continue to be humbled and thankful for this glorious assignment, which officially started on 31 January 2024, when the editor of this newspaper graciously created space for me to share my thoughts as well as to introduce you to ‘Proverbs 31 as a Professional Woman’ under the theme ‘Embodying and Manifesting Godly Wisdom, Success Principles and Effortless Femininity in the Workplace’.
In 2024 we already discussed ‘Embodying and Manifesting Godly Wisdom’ (part 1) and we unpacked success principles one to nine (parts 2-28).
Today we focus on success principle ten for Proverbs 31 as a professional woman: “She’s strong, courageous and discerning”.
Someone reading this might think:
‘Well, the Proverbs 31 woman is perfect in her strength and I can’t relate to her’.
I don’t blame you for thinking like that.
In past articles I shared my previously held misconceptions about the Proverbs 31 woman and in part 5 I was candid enough to express that: “When I first read Proverbs 31:10-31, I couldn’t relate to or measure up to her. Perfectionism combined with social conditioning made me think that the Proverbs 31 woman was exhaustingly too much and I also suspected that she was probably trying to be everything to everyone.
“At the time, I was busy pouring into everyone else’s cup except my own and I felt overwhelmed, insecure and frustrated whenever I read Proverbs 31:10-31.
"I needed spiritual healing and a renewal of my mind (Romans 12:2).”
I encourage you to read part 5 for more context, as it discusses success principle four: “She is intentionally present in everything that she does". Part 5 contains some of the key insights on how I got the revelation that although the Proverbs 31 woman “has various roles and undertakes multiple tasks, she uses wisdom to guide her on how to be present with the Lord, both for herself and for everyone else in different times and seasons.
"Meaning: She is not everything to everyone at once, nor does she try to do it all at once or in one day.”
It takes strength, courage and discernment to become this dynamic woman.
In the introduction published on 13 March 2024, I wrote: “I reflected that some might say that this is a ‘man’s world’, but the truth is that after our creation (Genesis 1:27), Elohim already blessed us collectively (Genesis 1:28) – yet many women are still waiting for someone to give them permission to be great, to take up space and to be unapologetically bold about it.”
It takes strength, courage and discernment to give yourself “permission to be great, to take up space and to be unapologetically bold about it”. Either way, I encourage you to do it for the revelation of God’s glory through you (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Please join me on a journey to reflect deeper on the multidimensional and multifaceted aspects of success principle ten for Proverbs 31 as a professional woman.
Shalom.
DISCLAIMER:
‘Proverbs 31 as a Professional Woman’ under the theme ‘Embodying and Manifesting Godly Wisdom, Success Principles and Effortless Femininity in the Workplace’ is not posited on trying to read the professional woman into Proverbs 31 because this will produce an absurd result. However, I have opted to take a principles-based approach that widens the scope to be applicable to any professional woman – regardless of her age or status.
