Clarion call to Namibians

Dimbulukeni Nauyoma and Michael Amushelelo
Revolutionary greetings to the Namibian people.

As we write this call-to-action letter, it has been over 30 days since our detention/incarceration. We wish to convey to you that we have not lost steam nor courage in the quest for our freedom.

We take a leaf from the great son of the soil, Thomas Sankara, who, on the 8 October 1987, shortly before his assassination, spoke at the opening of an exhibition on the revolutionary Ché Guevara.

He described Ché as a revolutionary who had humility, conviction, and a demanding character. He pointed out that Guevara did not live by the wealth of his family, or took it to heart, but stood on the side of the oppressed. He devoted his live to helping others. He belonged to the world, not to Argentina or Cuba, and his revolutionary spirit remained with us.

Indeed, we too believe that he is with us and informs us that we must display humility at all times in our lives.

We thus request that from 13 June 2022 to 30 June 2022, we collect over 30 jerseys to aid all the school-going children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our aim is to donate them to schools situated in informal settlements and rural Namibia. Many of these children stay at home or simply suffer during this cold period.

Hold hands

The winter is upon us, and we shall and must ensure that we deliver them when schools re-open.

A poster with the details will be shared.

For those who wish to participate in their respective regions, we shall ensure that posters with your details are created.

This is our collective effort, in keeping with the revolutionary spirit of Ché Guevara, who gave himself to the world and served without asking for anything in return.

Thomas Sankara, said to us that “we must dare to invent the future, everything man is capable of imagining he can create”.

Indeed, we have hope and faith that we shall be able to deliver the jerseys to the children and the youth by 30 June 2022.

Namibia should be preserved for the children, and we must ensure that no child is turned away because they don’t have a proper uniform or are unable to attend school because they lack a uniform.

Education is important. We trust we shall hold hands as a nation to deliver on the clarion call.

We thank you for your cooperation in the charitable work to keep a child in school this winter. We only have each other and should continue with the spirit of Ubuntu to care for one another deeply and genuinely.
