Arsenal has led the way in the English Premier League for so long that it feels strange now not to see them at the top of the table.
Mikel Arteta’s young side have done remarkably well to get themselves into the position they are in but back to back poor performances have really let them down.
Losing to Manchester City was a real set back. However, let’s not forget they still have a game in hand over City.
Arsenals fall from the top has obviously left a lot talking. Luckily, no one has called for Arteta’s head yet. But ask yourself this question. Has there ever been a team going through the whole season not only winning every game, but also dominating the opponent in every game?
The answer is no. Did anyone expect Arsenal to go through this season playing dominating football in almost every game and becoming runaway champions with a point tally of 100 or more? That is really absurd.
Football is a marathon, sometimes you win five games in a row – and then you lose three in a row.
The only thing for Arteta to do now is to just pick himself and his team up. Personally, I think his tactics has become very predictable and clubs are getting quite comfortable playing against them.
I feel like Arteta is getting out of ideas against bigger clubs and need to work on different tactics and formation to counter playing style of bigger and stronger clubs. It doesn’t help to continue using the same starting 11 and same approach in every match. Players that have been performing so well this season have started to struggle, with Gabriel Martinelli being a prime example.
Arteta needs to come up with a much fresher perspective and newer coaching techniques and to quite his one dimensional playing style. I t will also help the squad a little bit if Gabriel Jesus returned. But it is also no use to count on him now. The best thing to do is to give those on the bench a chance to start.
Maybe losing several matches and falling from the table is good for the team as it will give them a chance to regroup, refocus and to get some pressure off the players. This time around Arsenal can hunt, instead of being the hunter. - [email protected]
