NEWS IN SHORT
A three-day seminar on the oil sector, organised by the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), began in Swakopmund on Wednesday.
The Interstate Oil Committee (IOC) consists of five SACU member states – Namibia, Lesotho, South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini. Energy minister Tom Alweendo emphasised the importance of cooperation and stability in the sector, especially regarding fuel and fuel prices. "We, as member states, are expected to exchange ideas on enforcement of compliance measures. We will also discuss the roles of oil marketing companies and national oil companies in the oil supply," he said yesterday.
