2022 SHELL V-POWER OMARURU RALLY
The rally will start at 10h00 on Saturday 23rd April 2022 from Omaruru Shell Service Station in the centre of town.
The 2nd SHELL V-POWER OMARURU RALLY on the 23rd April 2022 in Omaruru will be the 7th high quality motorsport event promoted and presented by the Redline Motor Club in association with Vivo Energy Namibia in a longstanding successful sponsorship relationship. After five very successful years in Gobabis and last year’s 1st rally in Omaruru, Vivo Energy Namibia once again confirmed their commitment to support motor sport in Namibia through their Shell V-Power product brand and their trust in the ability of the Redline Motor Club for the success of such an important sponsorship event.
After many years of absence in Omaruru the 2021 event confirmed that the Omaruru special stages are arguably of the best and fastest in the country and the support from the local community are without a doubt the best.
The rally will start at 10h00 on Saturday 23rd April 2022 from Omaruru Shell Service Station in the centre of town and will immediately kick off with a very spectacular high speed first special stage at the MX Track continuing through the streets of the Industrial Area in town. This same special stage will be run again at 12h54 for those who missed out on the earlier action.
Further very highspeed action can be seen Northwards on the left of the main road to Kalkfeld from about 10h45 all the way between km 7.5 and km 10 measured from Omaruru Shell Service Station. The cars will again do this section at about 13h30 and at about 16h00 as well.
The top contenders for the championship are expected to turn up for the event. Current championship leader Allan Martin with navigator Maretha Olivier in their exceptionally fast imported Skoda Fabia R5 can expect fierce competition from last year’s winner and ex Namibian Rally Champion Wilro Dippenaar with navigator Carolyn Swan in a Ford Fiesta S2000. Tough competition can also be expected in the whole field of about 15 entrants in various classes ranging from 1600 cc rally cars to very potent purpose-built Off-Road racing cars.
A total of 7 Special Stages over a total distance of 110 km will be run on roads which are usually open to the public but will be closed for the public during these times. The organisers of the event want to emphasise that motorsport is a dangerous sport, both for competitor as well as spectator, and request the public’s assistance in ensuring all roads are kept clear during the running of the special stages. This is important as all special stages will be run either in or around the Omaruru municipal area.
The first car will finish at about 16h10 at Omaruru Rest Camp where the prize giving function will take place immediately after the results have been finalised and everybody is welcome to attend.
