Standard Bank partners with Mondjila Studios for Pan-African premiere of ‘Skeleton Coast’

The stage is set for the grand premiere of Skeleton Coast (2024), a groundbreaking Pan African film that showcases Namibia's breathtaking landscapes and rich storytelling. Scheduled for 6 and 7 December, the event will take place at Ster-Kinekor Grove Mall in Windhoek, promising an unforgettable experience for film lovers and the creative community alike.

Standard Bank Namibia has come on board as the main sponsor for the premiere as well as the master classes, highlighting their commitment to driving Namibia’s growth and investing in spaces with the potential to grow industries and create a self-sustainable ecosystem in the future. Standard Bank has long been a supporter of the arts, and this partnership is no different. This collaboration is intended to expand the impact of this platform and support the ushering of Namibian stories to the world.

A Pan-African celebration of film

Skeleton Coast tells an epic tale of resilience, culture and adventure, weaving together the rich narratives of Africa's diverse heritage.

Directed by Robert O Pieters and featuring an exceptional cast including Thapelo Mokoena, Cindy (South Africa), Ini Dima-Okojie (Nigeria), Mawuli Gavor (Ghana), Hollywood legend Eric Roberts, Namibia’s very own Armas Shivute and lead actress and executive producer Tjuna Daringo. The film is a testament to the power of African collaboration and creativity.

Among the premiere highlights is a 'Meet the Stars' session.

The event will feature appearances by the cast and crew, providing fans with an exclusive opportunity to interact with the talent behind the film, as well as the blue carpet experience.

Masterclass sessions on 7 December will provide behind-the-scenes insights during an engaging session with the film’s creators.

"Skeleton Coast is more than a film; it's a celebration of African unity and creativity," O Peters, the director, said. "We are proud to showcase Namibia's stunning landscapes and unique stories on a global stage."

Skeleton Coast synopsis

A group of scientists arrives on the Skeleton Coast in search of Blunamite, a never-before-seen gem rumoured to be on the coast. When one of them ends up dead, they are not sure whether one of them is the culprit or whether the ghost is sending them an ominous message.
