Simon Sixteen scores gospel award nomination
Namibian gospel artist Simon Sixteen has earned a nomination in the ‘best African gospel artist’ category at the ninth Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards in South Africa. The award ceremony is set for Sunday, 11 December, in Mbombela.
In an interview with tjil, Simon Sixteen shared that he is happy to represent the country once again in these prestigious awards.
“This is not my first nomination, as I was nominated in the first edition of the awards in 2016 and again at the same awards in 2018 in the category of ‘best gospel praise'."
He is nominated alongside four South Africans, one Eswatini artist as well an artist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“It is unfortunate that only fans based in South Africa are eligible to vote for me – this is due to the local voting codes that aren’t working [in other countries].
“Besides that, I am still confident that I will bring this award home,” he said.
