Rosatom launches t8th edition of ‘Atoms Empowering Africa’ competition

In a bid to inspire the next generation of African innovators, Rosatom has unveiled the 8th edition of its annual online video competition, ‘Atoms Empowering Africa.’ Aimed at fostering awareness and understanding of nuclear technologies, the competition invites African youth to explore the potential of nuclear energy in shaping the continent’s sustainable future.



Open to students, young professionals and professors aged 18-35, the competition challenges participants to create compelling videos that demonstrate how nuclear energy can drive Africa’s development, bridging its historical roots with present-day advancements and future possibilities.



The competition offers an exciting opportunity for young Namibian filmmakers to showcase their talents, with the grand prize being an all-expenses-paid trip to Russia.



Participants are invited to engage with three key themes: The Honour of the Past, The Inspiration of the Present and The Dream of the Future.



The 2025 edition is particularly significant, as it celebrates 80 years of Russia’s nuclear industry – a milestone that underscores the global contributions of nuclear technologies.

Nuclear power



Video creators are encouraged to reflect on the transformative role of nuclear energy through the lens of history, innovation, and future potential. Whether highlighting past achievements, showcasing current breakthroughs, or imagining the future of nuclear power, participants are invited to explore the far-reaching impact of this industry.



Submissions will be accepted until 31 March, with full guidelines available on Rosatom Africa’s official Facebook page.
