On his way to being one of music’s next big things with his genre-defying sound and inimitable creativity, Max Junior has added to his catalogue with the release of his first single for 2023, ‘Girlfriend’ - with must-see visuals.

In an interview with tjil, the musician shared that the song comes from a time when he had nothing on his mind but a special someone.

“The song was actually made last November, but you know what they say - no one has time for relationships in December.

“The track was produced and mastered by the Musketeers.

“I also want to say a special mention to Waters as well for having a hand in this masterpiece,” Max Junior shared.

Goals

On the goals he has set for himself this year, he mentioned that he would love to broaden his audience this year.

“I feel I’ve had enough time behind the scenes and I’m ready to lead my country musically, if they allow me.”

Max Junior is not a rookie on the music scene as he has three EPs to his name - ‘Juice Drop’, ‘Freestyles EP’ and ‘Excuse Me’, released in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Sonically, he describes his latest single as an Afropop song mixed with a bit of log drum.

“I really wouldn’t categorise it since nowadays it’s all about the feeling, there’s no rules. I just do what I feel at that moment.

“I am Max Junior and this is just the beginning,” he said, adding that the track will be available on major streaming platforms while the video is available on YouTube.
