NIPDB calls on Namibian creatives to showcase talent at TechNovation Social
The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) has issued an open invitation to all individuals and businesses within the country's vibrant culture and creative industry (CCI) to exhibit their talents at the upcoming TechNovation Social scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 19 June in Windhoek.
The exhibition is open to a diverse array of sectors, including new media and graphic design, fashion design, visual art, architecture, technology, software development, gaming, pottery, textiles, music and performing arts, cosmetology, writing, researching and publishing, filmmaking, audio-visual arts, and more.
“The TechNovation Social aims to achieve three key objectives. First, it seeks to create a platform that identifies and amplifies talented Namibian creatives, propelling them onto the African and global stage. Second, it aims to raise awareness about the economic opportunities within Namibia's CCI micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem. Finally, the event will strive to unlock revenue opportunities for MSMEs operating within the CCI,” read a statement by NIPDB.
Big prizes
An independent committee will select 28 talented and scalable MSMEs from the applicant pool to exhibit and network with key industry stakeholders during the event. The climax of the evening will see the announcement of the top five applicants, who will be recognised as winners. These distinguished creatives will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses to a distinguished audience and the general public.
The awards for the top five winners are substantial. They will receive export readiness preparations and gain the opportunity to exhibit and network at the prestigious South by South West (SXSW) event in Sydney, Australia, in October this year. Additionally, they will be granted entry into the K2G High Potential Pool, which offers focused traction and support over 36 months, ensuring sustained growth and development.
The export readiness programme, which will run from July to September 2024, is designed to prepare the winners for their best possible participation at SXSW Sydney, ensuring they are primed to showcase their innovative talents on an international stage.
