Namibia heads to Moscow for BRICS+ Fashion Summit

Michael Kayunde
Alvaro Mukoroli, director of MTC Windhoek Fashion Week, will attend the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow from 3 to 5 October.

The global event will unite fashion industry leaders, designers and experts to discuss innovation, sustainability and the future of fashion in emerging markets.

The summit offers a comprehensive business programme and an international exhibition titled 'Heritage', which will feature modern interpretations of cultural codes in fashion design from across the globe and educational events.

Mukoroli will participate in the fashion summit in Russia to foster multi-vector cooperation in the fashion industry, strengthen cultural and business ties and address pressing issues like innovation and sustainable development.

As the key event in emerging fashion markets, the summit focuses on the challenges and achievements of talented individuals, designers and companies within the industry.

Growing industry

Namibia’s expertise in fashion and culture will be invaluable in supporting emerging designer brands on a global scale. Summit discussions will also delve into topics such as artificial intelligence, investment and manufacturing.

"For nations like Namibia, where the fashion industry is still growing, this platform opens doors to global markets, offers exposure to best practices and facilitates innovation. It also provides opportunities for local designers to gain visibility, connect with international counterparts and learn how to elevate the fashion industry in their regions," Mukoroli said.

Following the fashion summit, Moscow Fashion Week will take centre stage from 4 to 9 October, featuring talented designers from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, Costa Rica and the UAE.
