MTC Windhoek Fashion Week internship programme now open
Seven years of grooming fashion professionals
This year's event is slated for 1 to 5 November at Maerua Mall.

MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MTC WFW) has announced that its internship programme intake for 2022 is open. Individuals with a passion for the fashion industry are encouraged to apply via whkfashionweek.com.
This year marks seven years of the programme which has hosted students from Namibia and South Africa.
MTC WFW has had interns from the College of the Arts (Cota), Wits University and the University of Johannesburg, amongst other institutions. This paid programme runs for two weeks and is focused on the different departments of the biggest event on the Namibian fashion calendar.
These internships have upskilled and developed students to help them understand the different roles in the fashion industry and opened their minds to all the possible careers in the sector.
Imparting knowledge
“We have had interns who have taken up permanent roles at MTC WFW, while some have worked in different productions and with designers. Some of the interns have started their own fashion brands and later showcased at the event,” a statement read.
The fashion showcase has had over 600 interns in the marketing and PR, production, backstage, hospitality, logistics, entertainment, décor and VIP lounge departments. Applications close on Monday, 15 August.
MTC WFW plays a pivotal role in the fashion industry by creating a platform for designers to showcase and market their brands. This year, the theme is ‘Sustainably Namibian’, with the statement adding: “It’s not only about fashion, but also about skills development and imparting knowledge in the fashion industry”.
