The king of township disco prepares to dominate dance floors and airwaves next month.

Namibian music legend Killa-B is all set to conquer the music scene once again with the release of his ninth studio album, 'Heart of a Lion’, in September.

The veteran musician - known for pioneering the township disco genre - has been working tirelessly on this new project, promising his fans an album filled with fresh collaborations and innovative sounds, complemented by captivating visuals.

In an interview with tjil, Killa-B shared that one of the lead singles off the album is titled 'Tandeende', and features King Tee Dee, Epuka, Flame and Tyrone.

“This unexpected gem of a track came to life when I approached my longtime friend and artist, Flame, to infuse a local touch into the album.

“As we sifted through beats, we stumbled upon 'Tandeende', and the rest, as they say, is history,” he said.

Growth and determination

Over the years, Killa-B's sound has evolved and matured, solidifying his unique style within the township disco genre. In his own words, he has reached a point where he knows exactly what defines him as an artist.

“The upcoming album, 'Heart of a Lion', showcases this growth and determination to leave a lasting mark on the music landscape,” he said, adding that he remains loyal to his roots while incorporating modern instruments and fresh touches to keep his music relevant and ahead of the curve.

As part of the album's roll-out, Killa-B is determined to produce a series of high-quality music videos.

Promising to stay true to his Namibian heritage, he said the visuals will showcase the authentic lifestyle and culture of Namibia.

Labour of love

On the production of the album, Killa-B mentioned that Epuka, his main producer, has outdone himself, crafting tracks that will birth new dance styles and ignite dance floors across the country.

“With song titles like 'Omalenga', 'Zemburuka', 'Holy Grail', 'Intliziyo Yami' and 'La Coste', listeners can expect a diverse and entertaining album that will transcend borders,” he said confidently.

As he prepares to release the album, the artist sent a heartfelt message to his fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support throughout his career.

He promised to deliver music that evokes joy and nostalgia.

For Killa-B, this album is a labour of love, a culmination of years of dedication to his craft and his people. He aims to inspire and unite audiences through his music, proving that the Namibian sound deserves its place among the iconic trends currently dominating the industry.

With 'Heart of a Lion', Killa-B is back with a bang, ready to take on the music scene with his distinctive style.

“The album is pretty much done. I do not want to give an exact date because you know mixing and mastering takes some time, but I can confidently say it will be out early September."
