Katjavivi wins big for 'Under the Hanging Tree'
NEWS IN SHORT
Namibian filmmaker Perivi Katjavivi recently scooped two awards for his film Under the Hanging Tree. He received the Best Editing Award and the Michael Anyiam Osigwe Award for Best Film by an African Living Abroad at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs).
Katjavivi is embarking on a tour of the US this month, where his film will be showcased at several screenings. Each screening will be followed by Q&A sessions during which he will discuss his creative process, Namibia’s colonial history, and the power of storytelling in reclaiming history.
“The screenings provide a wonderful opportunity not only to celebrate Namibian films but also to explore ways we can collaborate to expand this initiative,” said Katjavivi.
