#JustIn: Afrikaans rap battle in Rehoboth
For the first time in the town's history, Afrikaans rap artists will have the opportunity to showcase their talent on their home ground. The Afrikaans Rap Battle will take place Saturday, April 1st, from 18:00 at Le Palace in Rehoboth. The primary goal of this unique event is to promote the art of Afrikaans rap in the town. The aim is also to create a platform for young people to express their creativity, and the exposure to Afrikaans as an art form is high on the agenda of Kuile Entertainment, the organizers.
Male and female aspiring rappers from Rehoboth are encouraged to sign up and participate. The registration fee is N$50 per rapper, and great prizes are at stake for the top three rappers. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of N$1,000 and a Hip Hop Gear gift basket.
Fabian Nel, the owner of Kuile Entertainment, will also be giving away food parcels to 200 people in the town during the event. One of Namibia's best rappers, DiChef, will perform during the Rap Battle, with a special tribute performance for the late artist A-Block Cuzzle (Oom K) during the course of the evening.
The entrance fee for the public is N$10 per person, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Contact Hiskia at 081 654 9464 for any inquiries.
