Introducing the Amunganda Festival

STAFF REPORTER
The first edition of the Amunganda Festival is scheduled to take place at Amunganda village in Eheke from Wednesday, 28 December, to Sunday, 1 January 2023.

The event is aimed at giving opportunities to small businesses and bringing entertainment to rural areas. Set to be held under the theme ‘boosting community development’, the four-day festival will feature stalls, a football tournament and fun games.

“The stalls are available to local business owners from nearby villages, an opportunity we deem good for making an income during the holiday,” one of the organisers Katrina Nakankeya said.

Football teams can register for N$750 for the tournament where N$8 000 is up for grabs, while registering for a pool competition will cost N$100. The lucky winner there will walk away with N$1 800.

Meanwhile, businesses can apply for a stall for N$250.

“We will award six free stalls to local middle-aged and elderly business owners, aged 45 and above. They will be required to promote and sell unique traditional products,” Nakankeya added.

Entertainment-wise, the public can expect performances by D-Kandjafa, Locosounds, Nilton and more.
