FAN announces new board of directors
The Filmmakers Association of Namibia (FAN) announced on Wednesday the appointment of its new board of directors.
According to a press statement issued by the association, the newly appointed board is a diverse and dynamic assembly of professionals, each bringing extensive experience and a shared dedication to enhancing the creative and economic potential of Namibia's film sector.
The newly appointed board members are: Byron Joseph (president/chairperson); Tjuna Daringo (vice president/vice chairperson); Inna Goroh (treasurer); Armas Shivute (secretary); Vickson Hangula (outreach and partnerships director); Esther Beukes (programme director) and Angelo Joao Viringa (membership coordinator).
Robust industry
FAN president Byron Joseph expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments. He emphasised the board's commitment to fostering an environment where filmmakers can thrive by ensuring access to essential resources, training and networking opportunities. "Our aim is to collaborate with local and international partners to enhance the visibility of Namibian films and support the industry's growth," Joseph stated. He also called on both the public and private sectors to assist in these efforts, highlighting the collective responsibility to nurture the nation's film industry.
With this new leadership, FAN is poised to advance its goals and strengthen the Namibian film industry, creating a robust platform for filmmakers to showcase their talents both locally and globally.
