Enkal.i captivates with ‘From My Heart’
Windhoek-based singer-songwriter Innocent Enkali (27) - popularly known by his stage name Enkal.i – has dropped his first music video/visualiser. The Afro-pop artist recently released two new singles - ‘Seasons’ and ‘From My Heart’ - and released the visualiser to the latter last week.
The track is available on YouTube and Instagram, and boasts a catchy Afro beat, complemented by cool and flowing instrumentals.
Enkali said for his music, he draws inspiration from relationships, everyday life and past experiences. He is also inspired by the likes of Asake, Burna Boy, Stormzy and Young Stunna.
The singer said he possesses an immense passion for music.
“I don’t think I can remember a time where I wasn’t in one way or another interested in music; however, I only started embracing it when I got to university, and - in doing so - I found that I actually had talent for it.”
More music coming
After laying low for quite some time, Enkali said his fans can expect a lot of music from him this year.
The songwriter plans to improve existing relationships with fellow artists while creating new ones.
“One of the most challenging things I face in the industry is just the unwillingness from our predecessors or fellow artists to uplift upcoming artists, but of course I understand that I’m still not well known, so I essentially have to prove to them that I’m capable, and that’s my plan,” he said.
Enkali added that he produced and shot the visualiser with a group of fellow artists who go by the name Orang3.
“I’m not signed to a label, however, I do have a great support system among my friends and fellow artists - Lvmu, SlayJ, Wholesomezhan, Tumi Muhamed, Stanzo and Boomaneng, just to mention a few.”
