99 + one reasons to shine: Immersed in local content
Tuesday, 18 April, was an exciting, 99.1% local event celebrating Namibian content at its finest as well as a brand new platform.
TribeFire Studios invited local business people and media practitioners for an immersive, interactive experience to celebrate the launch of their all new webstore: tribefirestudios.com.
There were various activations showing off OneAfrica and 99FM’s programming content.
‘Cars and Gears’ lit up the red carpet with headlights from all kinds of vehicles. Miss and Mr Supranational Namibia 2023, who were crowned live on OneAfrica in March, were at the event in all their glamour and charm.
Guests were invited to attempt reading the news in their TV news studio and got a glimpse of sets used to record programmes for TV. Morna Ikosa, host of ‘The Business Brief’, was on set to interview guests about their take on business in Namibia.
A soapie set was built especially for the event, showing how the magic of TV is made. Guests got to choose a character and play out improvised scenes on ‘The Days of our Tribe’. Plots were made and secrets were revealed!
LearnOnOne had a lounge-turned-classroom showcasing the lessons broadcast on OneAfrica covering Namibian early childhood development as well as primary and secondary curricula.
PR officer Rukee Kaakunga explained how LearnOnOne Education and Leadership Development (non-profit association incorporated under Section 21) is funded by donors and brings extra lessons to learners across the country.
The Tribe 2.0 was in action. Che Ulenga introduced a line-up of performers including 99FM’s own Adora and Namibian reggae artist Ras Sheehama.
The 99FM presenters were hanging out with guests in the Feel-Good Lounge, sharing their love for music and positive vibes. In the spirit of Ultimate Braai Master, Coca-Cola and Dolce&Kapana kept the fires hot and the kapana fresh.
In the data forest were all OneAfrica and 99FM’s audience stats with an impressive almost two million engagements every month.
Zellmari Brandt, brand experience executive at TribeFire Studios, shared her take on media’s super power, saying: “We hold the eyes and ears, the attention, of the Namibian nation and - ultimately - their minds.
“At TribeFire Studios, we choose to use that power to instill positivity through authentic Namibian stories which resonate with our purpose of 'firing up minds' for positive change.”
